Europarc Innovation Centre Grimsby
An exterior view of the Europarc Innovation Centre.

The Europarc Innovation Centre offers well equipped workspace, support facilities and high-tech meeting rooms for small and start-up companies.  Its mission is “…to create a prosperous community of knowledge-based companies, committed to gaining competitive advantage, by the use of technology and the power of collaboration."  The centre was successful, so that by April 2001 the occupancy level stood at 100%, and more space and facilities were required.

Plans had been drawn up to extend the current facility to provide a focus for innovation, technology transfer and business start-up support in the food and chemicals sectors.  The extension to the EIC was completed in December 2001, supported by funding of £525,000 from the European Regional Development Fund and a total of £975,000 from the Single Regeneration Budget and Innovative Cluster Fund.

This project extended the Europarc Innovation Centre by an additional 1600 m2 and it provides supported units for high tech businesses and seminars.  It is a primary venue for a new manufacturing club promoting new manufacturing methods and technologies.  The extension houses a training room/conference suite and has doubled the number of business units to rent to 56 in total.  This facility is used by various industrial groups, including the Humber Chemical Focus and Regional Food Technologies.
