Community Press Office Grimsby

This project enables community centres within targeted communities to produce their own community newsletters as a tool to increase participation in community economic development.  Communities are provided with appropriate resources to write, produce, edit and print their own magazines within a refurbished Community Publishing Office, located in the Grimsby Telegraph office building.  The project is Community-led and owned; and magazines are produced by teams of volunteers, with the help and assistance of CPO staff.

In its first phase the project received grant funding of nearly £93,000 from the   European Regional Development Fund and over £100,000 in total from The Community Partnership North East Lincolnshire and the Grimsby Telegraph. It has provided 110sq metres of Business Space using ERDF on land already developed. The project has also assisted 8 organisations and provided two Gross Direct New Jobs, with 20 people accessing ICT.

In its second phase the project has received £122,000 of ERDF funding, with £210,000 coming from the Single Regeneration Budget and in-kind contributions.  In this phase the project is contracted to assist 32 organisations and six ICT initiatives, create one gross new job and enable 44 people to access ICT.
