Bradford Community Environment Project (BCEP) has now launched the Community Urban Works and Gardens project thanks to a grant of over £150,000 from the European Regional Development Fund. Community Urban Works and Gardens is a social enterprise that specialises in landscaping architectural green spaces and involves the local communities around them. Community organisations are invited to be involved in physical works to regenerate green spaces and tackle urban blight that reduces quality of life. Traditionally green space improvements have relied on outside contractors who are unwilling to allow community groups on site. By developing a Manningham based operation capable of delivering high quality landscaping and effective site management Community Urban Works and Gardens will be able to draw upon the participation of surrounding communities. This project is providing 2 gross direct new jobs, 3 gross Community Economic Development residents into employment, assisting one network, assisting 9 organisations and assisting 1 environmental initiative. |
