Borrowby 2Borrowby Playgroup -Thirsk, North Yorkshire

The Borrowby Playgroup in Thirsk, North Yorkshire has received over £60,000 of ERDF Objective 2 funding to provide high quality childcare facilities in response to parental needs and to aid early years development and form a childcare partnership.

The project has helped create an Out of School club, and provided funding for a building which is sited at the local school.  The project funded the purchase, installation and fitting out of the building and revenue support for 12 months.  The building houses a nursery, a play group, an out of school club and started a holiday club in 2005.

Previously ad hoc arrangements have been made with village halls but unfortunately had precluded the expansion to the out of school club and holiday club ‑ essential for meeting the needs of working parents.

The project has provided 1 job accommodated, 1 new job created, £6350 of Borrowby 1increased business sales, 1 organisation assisted, 86.4m2
of premises provided using ERDF on land already developed.
